Non-Lethal C2, X26C, M26C, and X2 TASER for Civilians

The benefits of a TASER for civilians revolve around the device’s power to instantly take-down any full grown adult. Armed with any of the modern available TASER® devices, even those who know next to nothing about self-defense can be instantly dangerous to any lurking criminals. In addition, this take-down power can actually be administered in two ways: either from a distance via a live TASER® cartridge or from up close via Contact/Drive Stun Mode.

Yes, contrary to popular knowledge, TASER® guns actually have 2 modes of attack. You might only know about its ranged attack, in which it uses live cartridges that accurately shoot out electrified darts up to 15 feet away. This is the most efficient and safest way to use any of the TASER® guns available for purchase. It allows you to keep your distance as the darts that connect to your target induce NMI or neuromuscular incapacitation.

While these weapons are easy to fire, it is still recommended that you practice before attempting to use one in actual self-defense. Practicing is what training cartridges are for; they shoot like live ones but without the electricity, making them relatively safer for practicing.

In case an attacker manages to already come within melee range of you, then you can just use Drive Stun Mode, your weapon’s close-ranged attack. You don’t even need to have a loaded live cartridge to do this. Making contact with the electrodes at the tip of your weapon can immobilize criminals just as well. This close-contact attack mode is available to all TASER® guns, be it the M26C, X26C, C2, or X2.

When it comes to any modern TASER effective range for live cartridges is usually around 15 feet. This distance-attack ability is one of the reasons why saying ‘TASER or stun gun’ is wrong; they are two different things. What really distinguishes the two devices from one another is that while stun guns induce pain through electric shock, TASER® guns induce true NMI – utter incapacitation for 30 seconds.

For the TASER® C2, this is possible through its Lithium Power Magazine. For the TASER® X26C, the power comes from what is called a Digital Power Magazine; alternatively, there is the Extended Digital Power Magazine, which lengthens the weapon’s grip to give you better stability. For the TASER® X2 Defender, you can choose between a Performance Power Magazine or a Tactical Performance Power Magazine. And for the M26C, which was the first ever electric weapon that could induce true muscle paralysis through electric shock, all you need are 8 NiMH batteries.

Other than the rechargeable and somewhat commonly available NiMH batteries for the M26C, these batteries or power magazines usually come with the purchase of a TASER® Kit, along with 1 to 3 corresponding cartridges.

If you want to maximize having a TASER® device, you can arm yourself with the corresponding belt holsters, tactical holsters, leather cases, and thigh holsters designed for both weapons and ammunition. The ones from Blade-Tech use Tek-Lok technology for secure mounting. There are also TASER® holsters from Blackhawk. If you want to be ready with your ammo, single-cartridge and dual-cartridge pouches are also available.
