Mace Defensive Sprays

Mace Spray Self Defense Line of Pepper Sprays

Mace was the brand name of the first commercial defense spray, which came out in the 1970s. The product has since continued to evolve through research and technology. Pepper sprays that have strong but safe formulations, innovative forms, and powerful distances and delivery systems, all made in the USA, represent Mace spray self defense at present. The brand is an industry leader, and a household name that is synonymous with pepper spray.

Invented in 1965, Mace began as CN (phenacyl chloride) tear gas spray. Today it is OC (oleoresin capsicum) pepper spray, although the Triple Action models combine OC pepper and CN tear gas, with UV marking dye thrown in. Tear gas sprays are irritants while pepper sprays are inflammatory solutions. Both types are lachrymatory agents that cause the eyes to overproduce tears, swell to the point of shutting, and suffer temporary blindness.

Is it advisable to use Mace or pepper spray for protection from human or animal attackers? For all intents and purposes, current Mace is 10% OC pepper spray, which makes it no different than most any pepper spray. The Mace hot pink, women’s, police-strength, home and jogger pepper sprays, for example, have a 10% concentration of non-lethal OC. The Pepper Mace defense spray products for use on dogs and bears are OC pepper sprays as well, with doses specific to their targets.

Mace pepper sprays generally involve a simple flip and grip operation. Most have a key chain and a finger-grip dispenser. Some have special features, like the PepperGard Leather Plus model’s glow-in-the-dark locking safety cap or the Keyguard model’s orientation tab. These compact and pocketable pepper sprays are great for women and first-time users.

However, not all Mace defensive sprays come as a liquid stream in an aerosol can. The pepper gun, gel and foam are popular innovations that can debilitate an attacker from as far as 25 feet away. Mace Pepper Gun, with an LED strobe option, can be sprayed relentlessly, and from upside down. Mace Pepper Gel and Mace Pepper Foam can be used effectively where it is windy, and safely even when indoors. They stick stubbornly, and more deeply when being wiped off. Lifting the cap of the Night Defender Pepper Gel activates an LED light automatically.

The Mace Pepper Baton is a concealable mini pepper spray inside a kubotan. The disguised pepper spray is refillable, and the kubotan can be carried in a necklace or a key ring.

An attacker pepper-sprayed with Mace will feel a burning-like pain and disorientation, struggle to breathe and see clearly, and cough and tear up uncontrollably. The culprit will recover from all the Mace pepper spray effects with no irreversible damage, but not without being incapacitated for 30 to 45 minutes and experiencing the aftereffects for hours. You should use that time to flee to safety and then call 9-1-1.

A lot of users buy Mace self-defense sprays in bulk from an online wholesaler for savings. Many become resellers for their wholesaler, too, and earn from home while helping other people out.
